Vision,  Mission, and Values:

    HCRS is a community based non-profit organization dedicated to the following

 

     VISION:  Providing lifetime opportunities for individuals to live independently to the fullest extent of their ability within their community.

     MISSION:  Highland Community Residential Services exists to foster personal growth, independent living and a high quality of life for persons with a developmental disability and/or who are dealing with a mental health issue.

     PRIMARY BENEFICIARIES:  People with a developmental disability and/or who are dealing with a mental health issue, with family supports in Pictou County will be given preference. In this way we serve our catchment areas and enhance potential for family involvement in day-to-day life.

     VALUES:  HCRS will be guided and held accountable to these values in the decisions and actions of staff, volunteers and the Board. 

  •      Integrity & Honesty: Honesty, integrity and fairness will guide all actions, decisions and relationships.

  •      Equality and Inclusion Staff and volunteers will ensure everyone is afforded the maximum inclusion and equality.

  •      Respect and acceptance of everyone

  The talents and gifts of all will be respected and appreciated.

  The Society will always respect the privacy of individuals and their families/advocates and will ensure confidentiality of private information.

  •       Person centered

  Everyone is encouraged to develop personal independence.

  Interactions focus on individual needs, are growth orientated and supportive.

  •         Relationship based approach

  Supportive relationships will be the basis for interactions with individuals, families, advocates and volunteers.

  Individuals, families and caregiver involvement and support.

  Recognition and respect for the role of staff in their supportive relationships.

  Relationships with community stakeholders are important and integral to the mandate and objectives of the Society.

  The Society will always make the best use of resources in order to improve the quality of life.

  Services will always ensure the safety of all.The staff and volunteers are responsible and accountable for the best quality service to individuals, families and advocates.
